I'm not sure how often I'll be blogging in May. May is always crazy for our family. Always.
My birthday and my oldest son's birthday is in May. Mother's day, of course, is in May. School is finishing up, and since we homeschool I'm trying to make sure that books are completed and final tests are graded. We also serve on our neighborhood HOA, so we help facilitate a pool clean-up and the pool opening. This is the normal agenda for every May. This year is not normal.
Added to that list is one of my best friend's graduation cookout (at my house) and my favorite cousin's wedding in NC. The "normal" activities in May also have a twist because my oldest is turning 18 and graduating (which requires more attention from me getting together announcements, dinners, and ceremonies). So because of that, my in-laws are coming in town and thus I have to clean the house, repaint my daughter's bathroom, and pressure wash the deck.
Ok, yes, I'm getting carried away. However, when my schedule gets crazy busy, I tend to add a home improvement project to the list. I must thrive on the madness.
The truth is I am so excited about all that May holds. Honoring my mom, rejoicing with the my cousin's new life, celebrating with my friend who finished nursing school, and applauding my son for putting up with me being his teacher for the last 12 years. God has reminded me that amidst the busyness and mayhem that accompanies May, He has adorned it with memorable moments that I get to be a part of. Just as flowers bloom in the center of a field of grassy weeds, so our lives bloom with beautiful events sometimes surrounded by hardships or hurriedness.
I am thankful to have a mom, a cousin, a friend, and a son. I am blessed to have been enriched by each one of their lives. I am privileged to participate in each of their stories.
May is approaching quickly. My "to do" list is a mile long, but my excitement is off the chart. The goodness and grace of God is truly evident in all our lives, even in the middle of the madness. Don't miss it!
